QCT Makes Live Calls with its 3G UMTS-compliant Test Mobile At the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes (February 19-22), we will demonstrate the QUALCOMM 3G UMTS-compliant Test Mobile by placing voice calls using a QCT test mobile the size of an existing GSM handset. This test mobile incorporates the MSM5200 baseband processor, the RFR5200 receive and RFT5200 transmit chips, and the PM1000 power management chip, samples of which are available now. The MSM5200 solution supports the Third Generation Partnership Project Frequency Division Duplex (3GPP FDD) mode of WCDMA—the technological underpinning for UMTS—and provides a peak data rate of 384 kilobits per second (kbps). QUALCOMM is currently working with various infrastructure vendors and operators to verify the test mobiles against UMTS infrastructure. (picture of mobile on link) cdmatech.com
