ted, In a thheoretical sense there could be tech so advanced that we see it as supernatural, as some of our tech would appear to stone age people.
Is there advanced tech that looks down on us as we look down on stone age natives and is there even more advanced tech that aging looks down on that?
How can we ever know. The time stream is so long that the presence of one advanced race billions of years ago would have allowed it to colonize the galaxy in a small fraction of the time elapsed.
Now did they come throughlike a cloud of locusts, knocking the earth down with meteor impacts when they see some evidence of advancing life? How do we know the dinos did not have a tech society? What would remain? Rtaifacts on the moon?

So the old paradox of where are they remains? Possibly they are here among us, but since large cargo is not practical they have given up on loot and occupty and just look and listen.
Crop circles have been exposed as hoaxes too many time for me to give them any credence at all.

How would we find a stealth alien group with good tech? One must assume all data traffic is stealthed and encrypted beyond our level to even find? Of course there are random sightings? are they real? one would expect that stealthed ships would not be the light bozos we see from the crazy press.

What if they are not that far beyond us in some aspects and they relay on our own denials to hide them?

All we need to do is get an appropriation to make a high tech alien search facility. Will we get it? I doubt it, the aliens have lobbyists too.
