Yup..., spinnakers are a blast.

One great memory is racing a 36 footer in a 3 day race out of Marblehead called the Corinthian 200, started at 6:00pm and ended at noon 3 days later. We had a crew of 6...3 on 3 off every 4 hours. Our boat was called the "Sea Robin" once owned by Ted Hood. We won our class, but was handicapped down by a smaller boat out of the Navel Academy, I think a J21...? and took second in the overall race.

I'd learned to race International 14's in Annapolis, MD so playing with the 36ft beauty was a major blast.

A significant part of trimming a spinnaker in small boats like International 14's is to match the tiller drag to the center board depth....So depending on tack and wind you can trim everything perfectly.

Sea Robin was made to sail like a small boat, it had a keel and a center board that could be raised and lowered, and with a helm that was very light. The Sea Robin handled just like a fourteen, and trimming the boat to reduce drag and hold the light air was easy for me to accomplish.

Loved every minute.
