wanna,

If it is "over" (in Dan3's words) for Intel, AMD would be defunct a couple of years prior.

Unfortunately, most of those AMD "posters" still have the incorrect belief that "What is bad for Intel, is good for AMD"

The only hope that AMD posters/investors should cling to is that Intel for the next couple of years continues to drop the ball, with incidents such as the FDIV fiasco. Possibly, after several years of incidents occurring such as that, AMD might be able to surpass Intel.

The chance of a string of incidents occurring is highly unlikely and the chance of AMD capitalizing on said incidents is, too, highly unlikely. Its not like Intel hasn't dropped the ball before and AMD could capitalize on it.

History is repeating itself and reminds of that Yogi Berra quote that Tony has repeated, "Its deja vu, all over again"

History has told us that:

The oursourcing of uP production fails, just ask Cyrix, Nexgen, etc.

The use of "PR" as a means to "rate" the speed of a uP is a failed marketing strategy.
