I only wish the patent situation was better defined in this category (phage display). I need to do a lot more work before I feel comfortable investing here.

Good luck <g>. As far as I can make out, no-one really understands who will end up with what in the phage IP stakes. FWIW, I suspect it will end up with much cross-licensing.
In any event, the winners are likely to be those who can get drugs to the market.
Also, FWIW, CAT are developing a cell free alternative to phage, which also will have the advantage -if it works - of being able to be more easily automated.
