Fingolfen, you make a lot of good points. I think that results from some of the recent reviews indicate that Northwood is yielding just fine. In addition, the AMDroids favorite search engine, Pricewatch, shows plenty of vendors carrying 2.2GHz Northwood chips. A search for "Northwood 2.0" will also show a good number of vendors offering the 2.0GHz chip. It's doubtful, therefore, that Intel is having any problems binning at these frequencies. Like you said, the decision to downbin to lower frequencies is more strategic for the company. Intel is already winning the majority of benchmarks, and AMD is on their last legs with their .18u process, so I doubt they are in a rush to use up all of the headroom for Northwood at once.
