mindmeld,

There are infinitely ways to value a company, let's talk about two of them, DCF and EPS*growth. Both can provide "divergent" valuations and are based on numerous, subjective assumptions.

Unfortunately, it appears that investors never learn. Remember back in the good old days that a stock split announcement was good for a 2-5 pt move upward? Investors never learn, but is it because of ignorance or stupidiy?

I still believe there could be great research potential on your "greater fool theory". You are lucky that you were part of one of the biggest bubble bursts of the century.

But it irks many people nonetheless because it makes valuation less scientific

Are you trying to tell me that just b/c a company is trading in the single digits or is 90% off its highs that it is not a good buy? <gggggg>
