Thanks for pointing that out, didn't catch it when I first read it. That's a very interesting development. I think that's certainly good news from the investor's perspective since it reduces the impression of Intel having dubious accounting practices and could lift some financial uncertainty from the stock. But I wonder if this move will effect the reported earnings? I don't know about the FASB rules Intel is adopting but my guess is that the "new earnings" will probably level off somewhere between the former pro-forma and the GAAP earnings.

BTW, very good earnings report from Intel. The only downside from the report is IMO the business expectation for Q1 '02. It looks like revenues will be flat at best and cost will be up. There were suggestion from some analysts that tbe normal seasonal pattern (Q1 down over Q4) would be broken this quarter. Let's see what AMD has to say tomorrow.
