ted, faithful people are sure. I have no faith that we will ever achiever FTL travel. I do have faith we will get to .03 micron features in 10-12 years.

Some aspects of speculated science will never be achieved, they are mere plots effects, also called 'deus ex machinae'
\"Deus ex Machina (n.) : Literally, god from machine. 1) A god lowered by stage machinery in Greek and Roman drama to resolve a plot or free the protagonist from a difficult situation."
Tell me Star Trek has none of those?

A lot of it is extrapolation from some achievemennt, like powered flight. I recall that after the Wright brothers did that we had an era where future cities had 10,000 planes in the air at one time. No thought of flight control etc.

Of course we have seen some future plots with many craft in the air, all in flight paths.(latest Star Wars)

Some of these will never be achieved, bulk teleportation? hmmm, they have achieved some sort of quantum telportation already...will it go to bulk? We see this as transporters in star trek. they make no mention of conservation of angular momentum, or gravitational potential energy, but there is probably an adjustment for it. If not anyone who transported from orbit to ground would end up red hot. the other way, close to -273K. Both fatal.

Of the speculated science some does come true. The e-books used 10 years ago are now true in real life. cel phones resemble some kind of com set we have seen.

etc.
