Corvis and Clear to Provide Comprehensive Optically Optimized Networking Management Solution to Carriers
Partnership Enhances Corvis Product Suite to Provide End-to-End Optical Service Management
LINCOLNSHIRE, Ill., Jan. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Clear, a leading provider of optical, broadband and digital network management software, today announced a solution partnership with Corvis Corporation (Nasdaq: CORV - news), a provider of intelligent optical networking solutions. Together, Clear and Corvis will offer Corvis' customers enhanced fault and performance management capabilities and service level agreement (SLA) monitoring and reporting. This solution allows long-distance carriers, inter-exchange carriers, local exchange carriers and MSOs to monitor and maintain their networks thereby reducing costs and increasing revenues through efficient operations, decreasing downtime, reporting and monitoring service-level agreements, and differentiating through quality of service.
The Corvis Network Manager interfaces with the Clearview(TM) product suite via the TeleManagement Forum 513 (TMF 513) industry standard interface. This interface offers carriers a scalable, non-proprietary network management solution where multi-vendor, multi-technology management systems interoperate in an open interface specification.
From the provisioning of connections and the retrieval of equipment inventory information to proactive fault and performance monitoring and reporting, the partnership will enable carriers to have an end-to-end view of their optical and SONET/SDH networks.
``We are pleased to be working together with Clear to ensure that carriers have the tools to offer differentiated optical services, such as bandwidth on demand,'' said Dr. David Huber, president and CEO, Corvis. ``Clear's solutions extend Corvis' focus on optically optimizing networks to ensure carriers enjoy the greatest return possible on their investment.''
``Carriers that select Corvis' optically optimized networks along with Clear, the only company providing a full suite of service assurance capabilities for optical networks, finally have the tools needed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of their network operations. Extending beyond network planning and provisioning capabilities, carriers now have the software to better manage their networks-allowing them to deliver the most reliable and differentiated services, while reducing operational expenses through proactive network management,'' said Tom Richards, CEO of Clear. ``This agreement creates an integrated operational management and reporting ability that carriers have been seeking.''
