I honestly don't think we will see serious PPT action for normal market swings right now. The PPT members will need to keep some powder dry for the possibility of something truly drastic like another 9/11 or even if the U.S. attacks Iraq.

If they mobilize the PPT on bad market news and then a couple of days later we get a terrorist attack, there will be no cushion.

Of course, this is pure speculation on my part.
