Hi, 'moenmac.'
Good description of your life in this post. Amazing. It's so much like mine, in the respect that we both value hard work and education and 'independence.'
Paying our own way in life.
What absolutely stuns me is how our views differ regarding Republicans.
You, apparently, are not -- yet, perhaps -- 'independently wealthy,' a circumstance that would seem to me that you would be concerned about the 'rest-of-life' for you, spouse, children, etc. Your dependents.
How do you imagine that Republican ideolgoy in power will 'help you' afford heath insurance, for example?
What if you became incapacitated ... through accident ... or have a stroke... some hugely debilitating illness... that took away your ability to earn income before you reach a level of finincial independence ... which, by the way, I wonder how ANY OF US can possibly figure out how much money is necessary to assume that we ever achieve it ... given that we should be planning for the next, what, 30 to 40 years? Possibly without any Social Security? And Medicare, etc.
How are Republican policies going to help you?
Would you rely on family members to pay your medical expenses, living expenses, etc?
Instead of the government?
Your opinions mystify me...particularly as self-employed, as am I.
How do you see yours and my futures?
What to 'invest' in? Skyrocketing health insurance and related pharmaceutical costs? Possibility of NO Social Security benefits 15 years from now?
How are you PLANNING for all of this?
