In my experience the simpler count is almost always the best. Overlap is not allowed except in the case of ending or leading diagonals and that's where you have sets of a-b-c's rather than 5 wave impulsives.

I think if you go down to a smaller scale chart for the whole time frame, like a 60 or 135 minute, you'll be able to see that even using extended waves and such, some of those areas are definitely only 3 wave moves.

Even a corrective C should still follow the rules.
