In any case, our blue line is slightly different. Probably not terribly important in the big scheme of things.

I'm going to interested to see the 10K that FNM files with the SEC. They seemed to go out of their way to not explain how you start shareholders' equity with $20.8B 12/31/00, add $5.4B in 2001 earnings, and end up with $18.1B in stockholders' equity at 12/31/01. Actually, every corporation has a whole other category of earnings that hit stockholders' equity. It falls in a category called comprehensive income. They dump things like currency translation costs and employee options in this small category. However, I don't think I've seen in the big boyz a case where it actually obliterated current year earnings. This should be interesting.
