It is not enough for you in this situation to say that you found such-and-such that compares favorably to the models he chose, without presenting details. It should be. People here might disagree with my subjective opinions, but over the years, they have come to know that I don't make up things. For instance, here are the specs for the NetVista M machine I configured on IBM's website: I wonder why you chose to start from a mid-priced system instead of the cheapest one? Mhhh... Start with a Netvista A, economy model 1.6 GHz Pentium 4, add up hardware until you match the iMac and you'll have a system for $1800 including an extra CD-ROM (on top of the DVD-RAM/DVD-R) that you could sell on Ebay.
