John, I think you're right. There are some people who don't have lives outside SI (or so it would seem). They have a lot of time and can put out stuff with a major feedback element missing: that of having to deal with the consequences of their behavior. SI makes it easy to control the consequences by turning people on or off "ignore". You can create a burning diatribe that hits like a grenade in a schoolyard and simply not respond to the backlash.
