Cooters, re: "Until we start seeing the higher data rate ..."

I;'ve had so much trouble with wired lines that wireless networking sounds like something a creative genius would write about in a novel.

Before I had high-speed access to the 'Net, I was just a person. Click ... wait ... the display fills slowly. Click twice and wait twice as long. Not!

Then ... GTE came along and gave me 1.5MB both ways for free (their "beta test"). I was "spoiled". After that ... only DSL or T1 would do.

Until two days ago at 7:00am, I had a high-speed link to the 'Net (measured at 1.5MB down/384 up). At home it costs me just short of $100/month. It is worth every penny. Except ...

For the past two days I have experienced sporadic access at <20Kbs, upload lockups, and more. At no time did my ISP post a notice of service degradation at their site nor did they respond to my email. My ISP is www.speakeasy.net. I inherited them from COVAD's demise.

If you have a choice, you might want to pick someone else. Considering the fact that I have nothing to compare to except -- "totally wrong GTE" -- and this is my first outage in nearly a year, I leave it to you to decide what is and what is not ...

Craig

PS I like your "Crystal Ball". Any opinions about how airport "rads" kills flash while minidisk escapes harm? Could this affect flash sales?
