Richard, from what I have heard and read, that is not the case. I do not have @Home yet,but the bandwidth is not dedicated, but shared. It is a HFC system, and everyone on the node is sharing the bandwidth. If all 1,000 people on the node were hooked up and still idle the speed as of right now would deteriorate signifacantly towards ISDN speeds. I think you should study up on how the tree and branch HFC system operates and maybe in the @Home page you can find out just how much bandwidth you are occupying by staying hooked in. HFC systems are not dedicated systems, but shared systems,ADSL is a dedicated system. From what I know everything you say is just the opposite of what I have read.
