So then either the iMac isn't overpriced, or the IBM is.

Just spent some time on the IBM site. I've always felt that the Netvista machines were very cool looking. They don't offer the same flexibility as regards the positioning of the LCD screen, though.

As for price, by selecting the Netvista M41 6790 and customizing it, I could get fairly close on the basic specs, though without the ability to write CDs. The total was $1,744, including the 15" LCD.

I went back and added Microsoft Money Deluxe (since the iMac includes Quicken Deluxe). Doesn't seem to be any option for a really good DVD mastering package.

I also added the IBM Radial Arm to make the systems equal in terms of the screen positioning. It all came to $1,984.97. And again, I stil couldn't write to a CD. But to be fair, the IBM does include Lotus Office Suite Millennium.
