>>I do not believe that I had to click through 40+ posts of meaningless argument over speed of x86 vs PowerPC and the price of the new iMac, and found not one about the earnings release today.<<

Really. I tuned in this evening after a bit more than 24 hours away from the thread, I think, and saw that there were seventy-something new posts. I figured everyone was having it out over the earnings announcement, but other than the link to the typical hatchet job by "The Street", there was nothing!
Of course, I'm enough of a nerd to join right in with the technogeek discussions. (I must remember not to post on a thread until I've caught up.)
I thought the earnings were pretty good, though not great. Haven't had a chance to read through the info carefully. The forward guidance was good to hear. Very gratifying to see 125,000 iPods sold in less than one full quarter, and to hear confirmation that the iMac is looking like a hit, too.
Perhaps there hasn't been enough time for Anderson to really know that the iMac will do well, as OrionX said, but I think these people have had enough experience with product introductions to know when a new one has legs.
Onward and upward. Shorts beware.

PS: In my own opinion, the people at The Street are a bunch of putzim. I could be wrong, but that's what I think. |
