<<Betting against FNM is a sucker play.>>

Maybe, but when it goes it'll go faster than Enron did and the ONLY way you'll make money is to have been willing to suffer the pain in the interim. I was trying to get people short Enron the whole way down, and they kept saying "I'll wait for a rally and a good entry and then I'll get in". And of course that rally never came. The same thing will happen to Fannie and Freddie; they are "confidence" stocks and when they go down they will waterfall.

Look, I'm not saying that you're wrong to look at trading ranges and look for good entry points and what not; as I have said many times over I don't know ANYTHING about that stuff and have been trying to learn from the very smart folks on this thread. But I doubt you'll make money on the Fannie & Freddie decline unless you're positioned well beforehand.

All JMHO of course. And of course both those stocks have been using up my capital for going on two years, and I am substantially down on both positions, so WTHDIK.

Cheers
