Visionics and Graphco Technologies Team Up to Target High-end Security
Installations; Leading Facial Recognition Engine, FaceIt, Incorporated in FaceTrac Product Line Business/Technology Editors JERSEY CITY, NJ & NEWTOWN, Penn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 17, 2002--Visionics Corporation (Nasdaq:VSNX), the worldwide leader in identification technologies and systems, and Graphco Technologies, Inc. (G-TEC(TM)), a leading developer of technology and solutions for biometric authentication, secure access and secure hosting services, announced today the integration of FaceIt(R) technology into G-TEC's FaceTrac(TM) and SIIMS/Bastille(R) product lines. The integrated systems will be aimed at high-end security installations such as government, corporate, and commercial facilities, public venues, and transportation centers. Using FaceIt(R) as the enabling facial recognition technology engine, FaceTrac(TM), G-TEC's advanced facial recognition system is used primarily for securing access and for surveillance. FaceTrac(TM) automatically scans the faces of people passing in front of a camera and searches for a selection of photographs of authorized personnel or of criminals held in a law enforcement database. In law enforcement applications, when a match is made, a human operator is alerted to verify the identity of the subject and to assess whether further action is to be taken. If there is no match, the facial images are discarded. FaceTrac(TM) can be customized to generate other automated activities that enhance security. Deployments of FaceTracTM are in accordance with industry guidelines and Visionics published privacy principles. For public-venue surveillance, these include public awareness, standards for inclusion/removal of database records, no match-no memory functionality, high level administrative access and penalties for violation of these principles. Law enforcement will also benefit by G-TEC's integration of the FaceTrac(TM) system with its SIIMS (Secure Incident Investigation Management System) and Bastille(R) product suite, both of which utilize Visionics' facial recognition technology. These systems provide the most advanced, authenticated, and secure investigation and criminal intelligence information sharing application for law enforcement and government agencies. The SIIMS/Bastille(R) allows law enforcement officers to quickly and appropriately share information as well as perform searches based on images and investigation data. The integrated FaceIt(R) component in SIIMS/Bastille(R) allows users to enter new facial images and search them against existing records. Jerry Ruddle, president of Graphco Technologies stated, "G-TEC has a number of immediate opportunities that require the delivery of our advanced facial recognition FaceTrac(TM) systemsfor high-end security installations. We are pleased to be working with Visionics, and to include their cutting-edge FaceIt(R) technology components in our FaceTrac(TM) product line.
