Tim, I see. Conservatives are not militarily aggressive and so in no way could be mistaken for a Hitler but they are superb fighters......just by chance....and much better than liberals....

I didn't say they are not militarily aggressive, some are some are not. What they are not, is willing to risk their country by military agression.

I also did not say that conservatives are superb fighters, or better at fighting then liberals. I just objected to your statement that liberals are probably better fighters, and that they have more imagination.

Only by conservative standards..........that's doesn't mean that he was a bad leader."

Carter's policies where bad by conservative standards (well he did increase military spending a bit, but only from the really low base that it had fell to post Vietnam), but that wasn't my point. My point was that his effectiveness was low by any normal standards. Judgeing only by his presidency ( I don't have enough info for his career as governor) he doesn't seem to be a natural leader. Even Clinton, who I think was a far worse person and who I find repugnant, had charisma, and managed to change more politices and get himself reelected. Carter didn't really lead people anywhere and probably only got elected because of the fact that the fallout from Watergate weakened the Republicans for years.

To give another example of what I am talking about I think FDR was a very effective national leader both in peace and in war. I disagree with a lot of his political ideas, and I think it is a bad thing that he expanded the role of the federal government so much but he was good at achieving a lot of his goals. Carter was not.
