>>Thank you for an honest answer Mitch.<<

And thank you for yours. But I am confused about your answer. I was not asking if God's actions were wrong in your eyes, but if Joshua's actions were. I am comfortable with any imaginary beings doing their own murders, but I am not comfortable with men like Joshua or Osama bin Laden or Jim Jones helping the process along.

But we seem to have gotten off track. I believe the point of contention was your statement of:

>>My proposition is this; If God does not exist then no absolute standard for morality is possible. Further; If no absolute standard for morality can be arrived at then the use of such moral terms as right and wrong are rendered meaningless, outside of mutual agreement.<<

I could note that the use of any words are rendered meaningless outside of mutual agreement as to the meaning of those words, but that is probably not what you are trying to convey.

I could point out that we meaningfully talk about notions of "direction" and "speed" in relation to moving automobiles, without knowing the "absolute" version of these terms (in relation to the Earth's or the galaxies motion). We don't even know if there is an absolute frame of reference for motion, but we talk meaningfully about these things anyway (and I still get speeding tickets).

I could illustrate that morality is relative as shown in your endorsement of Joshua's murdering of innocents (there were babies in those towns, yes?) which is contrary to the morality of those without your religious convictions.

All of this is in contrast to your assertion that God must exist (he mustn't) because an absolute morality exists (it doesn't).
