JS- I agree with everything your saying, and I believe that the analogy to the early days and valuation are partly correct. The only problem I have is I dont see the 1000% growth ahead, we are no longer the litlle engine that could, but the big engine that is expected too. My belief is that Qcom is a buy below 45, preferably closer to 30. I feel this way, despite my understanding of the dominence that QCOM hold's. I know in your heart you are a value investor, and justifying that Qcom is realitivly cheap is a dangerous proposition in a post bubble bear market. I think that is the difference as well, its not 1999, and the massive growth in the world and in the USA in particularly is gone. The growth rates in wireless are deteriorating, and money will not be spent that doesnt exist for 3g networks. I am expecting a pretty bad guidence by QCOM, and for most wireless makers. The fact is that Qcom is a 40billion not a 4 billion dollar co. This is a big difference. I often wonder if GJP is buying Qcom for clients again, does he consider Qcom undervalued here?
