09:51 ET Economic Data : The University of Michigan consumer sentiment index rose to 94.2 in early January from 88.8 in December; this was significantly better than the 90.0 consensus and provides more evidence that both the consumer and the economy are on the mend; not a major release, but nevertheless good news for the market.
