Saw and tried out an iMac yesterday (actually two), it looks better in real life (at least to me) than it does in the pics. The proportions seem to be quite good and the keyboard and mouse complement the rest of it. The workers at the West Hartford Apple store said that there were shoppers waiting to look at them from the minute the store opens. This design is more "office/desk friendly" than any of the egg iMacs. The design is much more "formal" than the egg iMac. I think it would look good with a flat black/graphite finish. It seemed pretty zippy doing a few things in OS X but didn't do any extensive checking. One of them did have Adobe Illustrator on it and that ran ok.
