I'm well aware of college courses (I majored in Soc Sci) and the twisted language of theses. They may accomplish the objective, but like the language of legalese, such usage brings to mind my first encounter with sex:

Things are done that one will never do again and indeed, one is embarrassed to admit all that was done the first time. And thankful that the audience was small.
