Go to your display from the control panel or right-click your desktop and choose properties. Now this is for 98, so depending on what OS you have it could be a bit different.
Click on the "Effect" or "desktop" tab....see what icon is being used for your Recycle bin. If there is no pic there, then that is probably your problem. If no icon is viewable click the restore default button
If that doesn't work you can make it yourself. This involves editing the registry so be very careful to follow the instructions to the letter. If you are not comfortable with this don't do it. You can use tweakui or xteq or some other tweaking program to restore it.
Open the Registry Editor by selecting Start, Run, typing regedit and clicking OK. Navigate your way to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. In the left pane, right-click the NameSpace key and select New, Key. Type exactly 645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E and press Enter. (To save yourself some typing, copy the above line to your clipboard, then press Ctrl-V after selecting New, Key.) In the right pane, right-click (Default) and select Modify. In the resulting Edit String dialog box, on the Value Data line, type Recycle Bin and click OK. Close the Registry Editor, click the desktop once, press F5 (for refresh), and there's your Recycle Bin icon. |
