"Even within the context of the Enron story, the disclosure
by Arthur Andersen that it had destroyed "a significant
but undetermined number" of documents relating to its
work for Enron was breathtaking. Yet it was only the latest
in a series of betrayals of the public trust by major
accounting firms."

They didn't just "betray the public trust" (such a nice euphemism compared to what those scum did), they took advantage of the public's perception of accounting firms as having ethics. That belief is dispelled when we find out they are criminals and con artists who only pretend to be honorable. Karen
