I'd like to thank many of you for your recent help and would like to ask a question about something I'd like to try.

I currently have cable plugged in to an existing NIC card on a relatively new Dell D4300 running XP and it works well. I just had an ADSL line and modem installed so I can try this service and compare it to cable, but I don't have the ADSL plugged in to the computer yet.

What I'd like to know is, can I install another NIC card I have, and then have both ADSL and cable running at the same time, then pick one service in one Explorer window, and the other service in another window? I'm looking to cut through the advertising BS and see which runs faster for my particular location and I figure this would be about the fairest test because I would access the same site more or less at the same time and at least get an impression if one is noticeably slower under similar conditions.

If I can do this, is there a good site to go to to check what kind of speed you are actually getting?

I know I said I had "a" question, but on another but related topic (for me anyway), does anyone know how to get into a BIOS on an old 486-66 which I stupidly put a password on and now can't remember?

regards, john
