What I'd like to know is, can I install another NIC card I have, and then have both ADSL and cable running at the same time

Yes this is possible. (You may need extra hardware like
a router)

then pick one service in one Explorer window, and the other service in another window?

hmmm. Not sure. Perhaps thru some complicated proxy setup
whereby on browser IE would default to a nic/setting and
the other Netscape goes the 2nd NIC.

most folks that I know that have cable and dsl on the same
system use it for combining the bandwith from both ISP's.

486 BIOS reset.

One way is to pull the battery out for a few minutes.

CAUTION: this will reset all BIOS settings to default.
Make sure you know the setting for your HD if your BIOS does
not have auto- config for IDE drives.
