I was spoon-fed dialectic materialism back in my youth but soon got suspicious of arianic black & white picture. Add catholicism, taken a bit too seriously... - "you have just one try and just two outcomes, kiddo". It is all connected to the question of freedom - French revolution, German philosophy [Kant, Hegel, Fichte, yes, Marx too]. Freedom of choice, of admitting the unavoidable, of facing your existence as full-grown person.
I'm not plugging the paradigm expressly, but, hey, use your head and heart, they're between your shoulders. And, btw this sort of goes in line with my approval of Soros' (the OTHER SoroS;) Open society ("Nobody, NOBODY, has the divine, ultimate truth in his or her hands")
