[Edit] Yes, Mephisto...but it's hard to get it out of them.
...what I mean, is that people ... particularly those who are still employed by major tech firms here ... are too scared to even speak about the demise of their own lives. Retirement fund IRA insecurity, etc...
And I'm talking about financial 'security' in the 'here and now.'
Not to mention Bush's plans to destroy SS.
It definitely depends on the ages, obviously, of people here as to 'outlooks' on their own futures.
Those who I know in their late 20s, 30s, and early 40s sort of always had no sense of 'job security.'
Even during the 'boom' times.
Those who are on SS seem to believe that 'everything is okay.'
Of course. They don't have to worry too much about skyrocketing health costs/insurance.
So they think right now ... until cost of living otherwise continues to skyrocket ... and their comfortable 'investments' in 'blue ships' go straight to hell ... mutual funds, bonds, etc....
It's hard for me to 'speak' for 'how people feel' in Central TX. I can't, really. Speak for others. You know.
PS: I'm noticing sharp increases in telephone bills -- local and LD -- i.e. Sprint ... utilities, cable TV, etc.
Groceries. Fresh produce ... ie. potatoes, of all things. Three bucks for a five-pound bag of potatoes.
I think inflation is happening...right now.
