Old OSes never die, they just stop growing. But I agree that the best growth years of the proprietary Unix market are probably past. It's an old astronomy joke that the solar system can be approximated as the Sun, Jupiter, and debris. In a similar vein it looks like the OS market going forward will consist of Windows, Linux, and debris.
