J.T. ... condolences, I have several friends who live and die 'wit dem bears' ... and as I said, I was rooting for Chicago ...
... I noted two plays early in the game which really set a pattern of the intensity with which Philly was hitting ... both were Eagle short pass completions, one on the far sideline, and the other on the near side (I think) ... on both plays, the Bear backs came up fast and tried to crush the receiver with intimidating hits after the catch ... the receiver, in each case, delivered a much more ferocious hit to the defender ...
... and the game went on from there ... the hit the Chicago defender took (on a punt or kick return) when he threw himself at the runner, and himself ended up almost unconscious out of bounds is another example ...
... Philly, and I had not seen either team play previously this year, played with a level of enthusiastic violence that I have rarely ever seen ... the number of injuries the Bears suffered was not really believable ...
... losing their quarterback early certainly hurt the Bears ... and I am sure they will be stronger in the next several years ... but the Eagles would have beaten anyone in the NFL yesterday, in my opinion ...
... and the Bears are playing their home games in Champaign-Urbana next season ... what is that, 150 miles south of Chicago ... what is with that ... why can't they play where the White Sox play ... not a great neighborhood, but the "U of I" ... that is crazy ...
... if you noticed, the Patriots, to my amazement, came back to beat the Raiders ... do you suppose that our federal government has arranged for the Patriots to win the Super Bowl in this patriotic time ... <g> ...
... I think the Eagles are my team for now ... can you imagine - Philadelphia VS Pittsburgh in New Orleans ... not likely, I know ... or how about Baltimore VS Philadelphia ... anyone but the St Louis "Indoor" Rams - as good as they are ...
... I expect the Ravens to upset the Steelers today ...
