I hope you are right, but the story keeps repeating itself historically. There's alway's a new crop of people coming along to be burned. Maybe I've learned some lessons in life, but what about the folks coming up the rear who haven't figured it out yet? No protection for them. In light of all this, isn't it a great idea for people to manage their own retirement fund. People could look at the president and say hey, he's taking advice from a CEO of a big company to create a national energy policy, well, if the president thinks the exec's got good advice to give, maybe I'll buy some stock in the company for my retirement fund. Sounds good to me! Enron stock certificates make excellent toilet paper as well as doubling as a retirement stash.
