That's the joke of it, it has little to do with being a liberal.

Make no mistake -- it has EVERYTHING to do with being a liberal. I'm a fiscal conservative, yet I understand that you don't cut corners on the military budget. That's not to say you don't control costs; but when it comes down to it, you spend what you have to to get the job done.

Unfortunately, the liberals have foolishly risked our military preparedness in a game of politics. They figured, well, we just gut the military during our terms and the Republicans will have to spend like crazy to rebuild the military when we're out. Then we can blame the deficits on THEM.

This is what happened during the Reagan administration. Reagan took over a military that couldn't even complete the simple task of extracting our hostages from Iran without the equipment falling apart on the scene (Ross Perot, on the other hand, was totally successful in getting his employees out without incident). Now, Reagan, understanding that our military could not be allowed to collapse further, spent the next eight years building it back up (to Gulf War capabilities), admittedly watching the deficits accumulate.

It is just the way the game is played. Liberals don't value national defense. They're stupid people who don't understand the risks in the world today. That's why they're also against Star Wars technologies. Just stupid people.
