Channel thoughts-- Anybody know if Macs are still sold at Circuit City? I haven't been in one in years, I think. But haven't happened to notice any Apple ads in the Sunday CC fliers. Of course Apple has to pay some of the cost for placement and maybe they are choosing not to. I wonder if there's any chance to get back into Best Buy? The supposed reason why they were kicked out in early 1999 was that they didn't want to carry all five iMac colors. Well, now the iMac is essentially back to one. But I doubt they'll be back in there. Some bad blood and of course Apple wants to control the shopping experience better. Too bad though because Best Buy sells tons of computers. I wonder if Apple would consider having a kiosk at Target? Seems like Targets have plenty of room to set up something like that. The success of Dell on Hope Shopping Network makes me think that Apple should be next, as soon as it can meet iMac demand. People everywhere are talking about this computer. And the ignorant are upset when they find out it is a Mac... I think the 1.5 B in revenue is easy. The consumer is coming back and only the outdated iMac kept Apple from reaping good money last quarter. But now it has the product to move around 400,000 units in the weakest quarter, and probably averaging $1500 ASP (retail). Which is like selling 400,000 iMac SEs from the old line. Beautiful. And add in just enough G4 mhz upgrade so that people realize that this is the best they'll see until summer and pros will buy. Especially with X rolling along now. I think one can make a good case for 1.5 B, 1.6 B, 1.7 B, and 1.8 B this calendar year. That's very nice compared to last year. When is Photoshop coming out for X? March? May? Marc
