Tomorrow could be an interesting day.

The Argintine operation of Nextel International (now known as NII Holdings, Inc) defaulted on a $8.3 million principle payment a few weeks back, but arranged a payment date of January 22. With Nextel International bonds trading around .10 cents on the dollar, some sort of restructuring or reorganization including bankruptcy seems to be a real possibility.

A few months back Nextel assisted in reducing Nextel International debt about $857 million by exchanging nearly 22 million shares of Nextel. However, from what I understand, Nextel has no legal obligation regarding Nextel International debt or further funding, so IMO, it seems doubtful that big brother will help out.
