The basis of Red Hat is open source software. Linux will not die if AOL fumbles with Red Hat. Most of the Mac software is controlled under a firm hand by Apple - that maintains consistency and is the main reason Apple has been able to make the big switch from 9 to 10 with a functional classic environment. I don't believe the software engineers who pulled off that switch and who have kept the innovation going in easy-to-use Mac software would stick around if AOL took over.

What is AOL's experience in innovation? Does AOL respect and nurture innovators? Do you think AOL has a clue about style? AOL's not much more than an ISP and I prefer Earthlink.
