DAILY WRAP-UP
************************************
The Canadian markets were the only game in town Monday
as their U.S. counterparts were closed for the Martin Luther
King, Jr. holiday.

On the senior board, the Toronto Stock Exchange 300 index
closed at 7582.85 down 21.9 points or 0.29%. Volume on
the TSE was 78.9 million. The junior S&P/CDNX Composite
Index ended the session at 1,098.02 up 3.58 points or 0.3%.
Volume on the CDNX was 33.6 million shares traded.

"With the holiday in the U.S., the volume was just not there
today," said Desjardins Securities director of institutional
trading Ron Campbell. "People were not in the marketplace
today. Volume in Toronto was at a major low. There wasn't
much going on today."

Campbell said while the day was slow, it wasn't completely
uneventful.

"CGI Group showed strength. Scotia Capital upped the
stock to a 'Hold' from a 'Reduce.' The funny part was
National Bank cut the stock from a 'Buy' to a 'Hold' and
Canaccord cuts it to a 'Market Perform.' God knows (what's
going on there). But that stock showed volume today."

CGI Group, (TSE: GIB.A) a computer services firm, put on 15
cents to C$12.10 on the analyst actions and news Friday
that it reported a 50% gain in quarterly revenue from the
year-ago period, and said 2002 could be a record year for
sales and earnings.

Other TSE listed stocks showing signs of life Monday
included Intrinsyc Software, Inc. (TSE: ICS). The software
maker announced Monday that it plans to raise $10 million
through a private placement of special warrants.

Ivanhoe Mines Limited (TSE: IVN) put on 11% after the
mining company said recent exploration results confirm
gold and copper values increase with depth at its Turquoise
Hill discovery in Mongolia.

Marum Resources Inc (CDNX: MMU) and Fareport Cap Inc
(CDNX: YFA) were the CDNXís most actively traded stocks
Monday. Neither company has announced news in the past
several trading sessions.

In economic data, Statistics Canada said the country's retail
sales grew 1.4% to C$24.6 billion in November, driven by
strong auto-sector sales as a result of zero-financing deals

The U.S market will be open for a full session tomorrow.
