Bush tried the same stuff in Texas that he's pushing on the nation. First of all a tax cut which practacly nobody noticed since it went to companies like Enron and not the citizens (There's no income tax and he didn't cut the sales tax, It think it was the gasoline tax and a bunch of business taxes). At any rate it destroyed the state surplus and now theyre dumping all sorts of programs to try and save money.

Second was his testing programs in the schools. The schools used to use something called the CAT (California Achievement Test) and reported the scores. Now there is a state test (TASS) and the schools are judged on the performance, so natuarlly the schools cheat on the test, and when they can't cheat they teach the likely test questions to the exclusion of any other lesson plan.

The worst thing he did was introduce big corrupt money into Texas politics on a scale which had never been seen before.
