Dear Monica:

Since many state that CPU listings alone do not show availability, I looked at CPU+MB+HSF combos. Since having such a combo is greater commitment than simply selling a CPU, combos show more of intent to sell. The fact that less than half as many listings use NWs as AXPs at the highest grade for each is telling that NWs must at least be half as desirable or half as available. Looking at the number of NW capable motherboards versus AXP capable shows that the ratio is greater than the 2:1 shown.

What the exact ratio is, is unknown but a ratio of 4:1 to 5:1 is most likely and thus 2.2 NWs have only 20% to 25% of the volume of 2000+ AXPs. Since we know that 10K+ of 2000+ AXPs shipped in Q4, 2.2 NWs are less than 3K. Now I do not call 10K per quarter a flood. It's more like a small flow. 20% of that is about a trickle.

Pete
