COHR has a German subsidiary (Lambda Physic -sp?) that has been trying to compete with Cymer with little success. Keep in mind that Cymer has only 3 customers. Yes there are only 3 companies in the world who make steppers. Canon, Nikon and ASM/SVG (ASM Lithography recently bough Silicon Valley Group). Both Canon and Nikon have tried to find a second source for their lasers and have qualified Lamda, but big chip makers require Cymer's laser in their steppers. Komatsu, a Japanese competitor has had better success. Check out a summary of a recent report here:

Mani, I knew about Lamda........my german friends are checking it out. I didn't know that it was a subsidiary of COHR.

Why are CYMI's lasers so unique? Is it because of the ultraviolet lite [DUV] that CYMI's excimer's produce? How long have you worked for them? LOL
