I certainly meant no offence. And thank you for your extended explanation.

I regard the problem as quite serious. It just seems to me that it may be as serious as the problems which resulted from the loss of the pacific war, or at least the most serious situation the Japanese economy has faced since that time.

The 1980-90's flow of Japanese money into the Pacific was quite a shock to those economies. When the flows reversed or stopped it was another shock. I find the comparison with events 60 years ago to be valid in many ways. It may be all banking and money, but it didn't seem that way at the time.
