InfoSpace to Integrate VoiceGenie VoiceXML Gateway into its Speech Platform Combination Offers Wireless Carriers Speech Technology Choices in Delivering Multimodal Speech Applications and Services

BELLEVUE, Wash. & TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 22, 2002-- InfoSpace, Inc. (Nasdaq:INSP - news), a provider of wireless and Internet software and application services, today announced an agreement with VoiceGenie Technologies Inc., the leading provider of complete VoiceXML Gateway solutions, to integrate VoiceGenie's VoiceXML Gateway into InfoSpace's Speech Platform.

The combination of InfoSpace's Speech Platform and VoiceGenie's VoiceXML Gateway will provide wireless carriers with support for multiple ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition) engines, international telephone standards, as well as the ability to deploy multimodal applications on a VoiceXML 2.0 compliant gateway.

InfoSpace's speech platform offers many cutting edge features, including a dynamic engine that supports multiple voice, brand and language applications capabilities. These features are designed to significantly reduce the total cost of ownership and accelerate time to market for wireless carrier deployments of speech services, such as speech-enabled SMS alerts or voice-activated dialing. VoiceGenie's award-winning VoiceXML Gateway supports multiple ASR engines, international telephone standards, VoiceXML 2.0 and includes an extensive third party developer network.
