If you wrote the letter you should have received a reply back that said Solvex didn't have any money and it wasn't worth the lawyers time to go after them. This lawyer was the lawyer for the shorts (or the group that said they were going to file a class action claim against solvex back when solvex was doing ok). Now that the company has been destroyed they don't want the class action certified. If it is certified they have to present their evidence against solvex and if they aren't able to back up their claim then solvex can go after them.
You need to write another letter telling these lawyers that doing nothing is not an option. You have been wronged and you want to know why. We want them to show the Judge their evidence and if it is not good enough we will go after them.

The letter should be something like this.-

Robert A. Wallner
Milburg, Weiss, Bershad, Hynes, & Lerach, LLP
One Pennsylvania Plaza, 49th Floor
New York, New York 10019

RE: solv-ex Litigation
96 Civ 7575(RMB)(RLE)

Dear Mr. Wallner,

While I thank you for responding to my letter I am completely dissatisfied with your response. As a shareholder of Solvex I have suffered financial losses and my rights need to be protected. I am asking you to certify the class and I wish to be a certified member of the class. Your failure to do so will prejudice my ability to recover the losses that I have incurred.

Sincerely,

cc:The Honorable Richard M. Berman

You need to sign the letter and put your address and phone number on it.
You should mail a copy to the judge to let him know we are unhappy with the lawyers lack of action.

The Honorable Richard M Berman
United States District Judge
Southern District of New York
40 Centre Street
New York, New York 10007

It never hurts to see where the trail will lead
