<< Enron Corp. was named today the “Most Innovative Company in America” for the sixth consecutive year by Fortune magazine. >> What is your point here? Do you feel that the "news" could have, and should have found out that Arthur Andersen wasn't doing it's job, and was shreding documents and covering up Enron's off-balance-sheet fraud? Many organizations, analysts, politicians, investment groups, etc., besides the news didn't see thru the crap that was going on at Enron. I am beginning to understand your logic. It's convenient to blame the messenger (the news) for the message. It's also convenient for you to say that American news organizations have no checks and balances, because they don't examine the auditing of ALL companies, throughout the world, to see if the auditors are doing their job. The checks and balances on America's free press are numerous, and under little government control. In fact, America's news organizations have virtually changed the world greatly, and for the positive, by bringing international news into all corners of the free world. << Yeah, I can see the Arabs and the Third world countries falling over themselves in the rush to trust the West's media. >> Does this mean you support the news that is controlled by the Arab government dictatorships?! You like the checks and balances of government controlled news more than America's independent news organizations? Perhaps that is why you have such biased view of the Middle East. |
