ARBA goes more tankarooooooonie ... somebody tell me what they do.... (besides lose massive quantities of money)

Hi Victor!

Arba... well, yeah they actually had one of the better biz plans once. In 1995 or so pretty much every ERP implementation had an additional "custom task" that consultants would do... putting the purchasing schedule on the web and collecting orders in a pool so that the OE personnel could enter them (manually) later. The web made it so pricing was accessible 24/7 so a good thing. It costs about 200-300K to get this done with Andersen.

The AMD team doing this took it to Benchmark capital and voila! ariba was born. But it was and always will be a peripheral applicaion, imo. This in contrast to I2 and manugistics that have high value-add planning suites.

Now you know!
Lizzie

PS I'm peeved analysts use arba as a barometer of tech software spending. Kinda like using Hummer as barometer for new car spending.
